Study Plan

Your Free 8-Week GED Study Plan

Prefer Spanish or Arabic? Open the study app on the homepage and use the language switcher — everything is fully trilingual there.

Aim for five focused sessions each week. If a week feels too fast, repeat it—the plan should fit your life, not fight it.

WEEKS 1–2: Find your starting point

Try sample questions in all four subjects. Mark the skills—not just the questions—that slow you down.

WEEKS 3–4: Build the foundation

Study your two weakest skill groups. Use short lessons, then solve questions without notes.

WEEKS 5–6: Practice under time

Mix easy and hard questions. Practice skipping, returning, and checking your reasoning.

WEEKS 7–8: Rehearse test day

Take timed practice by subject. Review every mistake and schedule only when your results are steady.

Each study session (60 minutes)

  • Learn · 20 min: One concept, explained clearly
  • Practice · 25 min: Questions without looking at notes
  • Review · 15 min: Explain each mistake in your own words

From today to test day

Rules, fees, age limits, and online testing options can vary by location. Confirm the details for your state or country before scheduling.

  1. Create your official account: Use GED.com to find local policies, classes, study materials, and scheduling.
  2. Study your weakest skills: Start with a diagnostic. Track recurring mistakes by skill and practice them again.
  3. Use official practice: Preview each subject and consider GED Ready when you want an official readiness indicator.
  4. Schedule when ready: Check ID, age, residency, retake, and testing-location requirements before you pay.
